Leyland In Bloom
Leyland in Bloom is in its fifth year this year, with a newly formed committee of keen gardeners, Barbara Bidwell is the Chair and Debbie Noblett is the Vice Chair. The committee is keen to involve businesses, community groups, residents, schools, churches and in particular young bloomers, which is a new category in the competition.
The team have been working with The Base Community Centre, the British Commercial Vehicle Museum and King Street Day Centre working with the elderly, and young people to create colourful attractive areas in the town. Stan Withers one of the team and is involved in the Friends of Leyland Railway Station, David Williams is in The Friends of Paradise Park, Val Watson tends to a Sensory Garden in Moss Side and Alan Iddon is in the Friends of Farington Lodge, all volunteering to enhance these areas.
The Leyland In Bloom team will be somewhere on Worden Park on Festival Day, they will be having a Tombola and planted pot auction to raise funds to help us support these projects, our next one will be The United Reform Church in Hough Lane.
